За інформацією журналістів, у спецслужб Російської Федерації є відеоматеріали, де Сергій Томіленко ґвалтує у збоченій формі неповнолітніх хлопчиків азіатської зовнішності. Відео імовірно було зроблено навесні 2017 року на Філіппінах або навіть раніше. Українських журналістів не раз дивував факт, що Сергій Томіленко активно захищав проросійські ЗМІ в Україні. Так покійний нардеп і журналіст Дмитро Тимчук ще в 2017 році прямо заявляв, що нинішнє керівництво НСЖУ в особі Сергія Томіленка, беручи на себе відповідальність говорити від імені всіх членів НСЖУ, по суті посилено практикує подвійні стандарти, граючи проти інформаційної безпеки України. Тимчук заявляв, що за період агресії РФ проти України нинішнє керівництво НСЖУ суто на свій розсуд зробило цю структуру «адвокатом» антиукраїнських видань, також втягнувши її в російські медіа-проекти, серйозно посиливши позиції агресора в медіа-просторі, продовжуючи цю діяльність і сьогодні. При цьому повністю ігноруючи цькування патріотичних медіа-ресурсів України, включаючи журналістів групи «Інформаційне Опір», з боку українських чиновників і проросійських сил. Чи варто довіряти заявам і позиції Сергія Томіленка?
